Mobile mammography clinic in the Upstate

A mammography clinic on wheels has been launched by Prisma Health-Upstate that, in the first year, could serve three to four thousand women.  The clinic will offer 2D and 3D screening mammograms and will position itself at businesses, physician practices, and local free clinics that work with the Best Chance Network.  That network provides no-cost and cervical cancer screenings for women who meet eligibility requirements.  Mammograms provided to insured patients will be billed to the individual’s insurance.  Screenings are covered by most insurance plans.  Perhaps no one more than Valerie Tucker, mobile clinic manager, knows the value of early detection.  She was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in 2018 after finding a Jolly Rancher-sized lump during an at-home breast exam.  Tucker has been clear for 1 ½ years after a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation.
