MARION “PERI” HART

Salem, SC — On June 3, 2024, Marion (Peri) Hart peacefully joined her Lord and Savior from Cottingham House while under Hospice Care.

Peri was born on January 5, 1942, in Westfield, NJ, to William N. and Elizabeth (Betty) Pierce.  She was a graduate of Westfield High School and Connecticut College. Peri met her husband of 60-plus years, Vic Hart, working in food service at Interlochen Arts Camp in Northern Michigan. While working at camp, Vic and Peri enjoyed many dates to Otter Creek, one of the beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan. After three summers of “Summer Camp” life, they married on June 15th, 1963. Peri and Vic lived in South Carolina early in their marriage. Peri worked as a teacher in Beaufort, SC, and taught during the early days of integration. When they returned to Michigan, Vic and Peri settled in Fenton, where they raised their two children, Kevin and Kaelee. Later in retirement, they settled in Keowee Key, SC.

Peri dedicated most of her time to nurturing her two children and worked part-time to support

their extracurricular activities. She also served both her communities by volunteering in various church

ministries and community initiatives, including FISH, First Responders, and Keowee Cares. Peri

enjoyed playing bridge and diving into books, often reading the endings first. Her strong faith in

Jesus Christ was central to her life, and she cherished her church friends and the Keowee Key

community. Peri will be remembered for her kind heart and love for her family and community.

Peri is survived by her husband: Vic Hart; children: Kevin (Suzanne) Hart of Hamilton, MI, and Kaelee

(Eric) Van Camp of Walhalla, SC; grandchildren: Laura (Michael DeLorme), Michael Van Camp,

Christopher (Maddie) Van Camp, Elizabeth Hart, Benjamin Hart, Nathan Hart, and Anna Hart; and

her great-grandchildren. Preceding Peri in death are her parents and brother, William “Bill” N.

Pierce Jr.
