Major Jackson “Jack” Morgan

Major Jackson ‘Jack’ Morgan, age 94, of Clemson Downs, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Mr. Morgan’s life began on February 18, 1926, in Oconee County, Westminster, SC when he was born to the late Dewitt Odell and Grace Cox Morgan. He was the sixth child in a family of twelve.

Mr. Morgan was in the U.S. Navy in WWll where he served onboard an LCT-1325 Amphibious Landing Craft Tank. Most of his naval career was spent in Borneo and New Guinea. He loved serving his country and telling stories of his time in the military. He remained very patriotic his entire life.

He enjoyed a long career with the U.S. Government traveling across the United States as he worked. Jack retired as an ex-ray engineer supervisor at the Charleston Naval Base in Charleston, SC. He loved the South Carolina Low Country.

Mr. Morgan is survived by brothers: Jesse, Leon, and Lane Morgan and One sister, Barbara Stephens DeFore.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Doris McAllister Morgan, and his first wife, Mary Helen “Mellen” Morgan. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Woodfin, James, Wallace, and Rayford and sisters: Margaret, Shirley, and Patricia.

Mr. Morgan was a member of East Clemson Baptist Church, 130 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC, 29631, where memorials may be made if one so desires.

Graveside service will be held at Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca SC on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at 1:00 PM with military rites provided by the American Legion of Seneca, SC.
