Lucille Alley Stewart Pickett

West Union, SC — Lucille Alley Stewart Pickett, 96, of West Union, SC, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Lila Doyle Nursing Home.

 

First married to David Roy Stewart, Jr. of Madison, NC, then to John E. Pickett of West Union, SC.

 

She was born in Mayodan, NC, on June 5, 1928. The daughter of John Monroe Alley and Claudia Yates Alley of Mayodan, NC.

 

Coming to Seneca, SC in 1966, she and her husband were managers of Seneca Bantam Chef and in 1973 bought the Walhalla Bantam Chef. Due to her husband’s illness, they retired in 1990.

 

Being charter members of Open-Door Baptist Church of Walhalla, SC she was very active in missions and was a member of Golden Jewels Sunday School class.

 

Her home was always open to children and anyone who just wanted to talk. She said people liked to talk to her because she either forgot what they said or who they said it about.

 

Mrs. Pickett is survived by her son: David Roy Stewart (Susan) of Madison, NC; daughters: Linda Stewart Wood of Thomasville, NC and Susan Crane of Walhalla; grandchildren: David Ray Stewart IV, Lori Lanay Bowen, and Adria Stewart Murphy; great-grandchildren: Nicole Dansy, Ayden Murphy and Trenton Murphy; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs.  Pickett was preceded in death by her daughter: Nancy Lee Stewart; daughter-in-law: Susan Kim Ashworth Stewart; and granddaughter: Sheena Ruth Stewart.

 

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Open Door Baptist Church.
