Larry Dickson

Westminster– Larry D. Dickson, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lucedale, Mississippi in 1955, he was the youngest child of the late Melvin and Mary Dickson.  He was a graduate of George County High School and attended Ole Miss. Larry was a self-employed carpet cleaner, owning his own business for decades.  He did a little bit of everything during his lifetime.  He rode thoroughbred race horses as a teen and later on he was a carpenter’s helper, plumber’s helper, and a tow truck driver when the carpet cleaning business was slow.  He did whatever it took to take care of his family.  He took great pride in every venture, job, or task he was involved in.  He enjoyed making people laugh and at one time was a stand-up comedian.  He loved to play his prize Martin guitar and sing.  He was always ready any time with a joke, a shoulder, a lending hand, organizing benefits, and most importantly, with a prayer.  He was a true Clemson fan, win, lose, or draw.   He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Kimberly Voyles Dickson; daughters, Heather Dickson, Megan Dickson (Aaron), Kelsey Dickson; special daughter, Brooke Cobb; grandchildren, Braxton Lee, Landon Lee, Tayden Dickson, Kinleigh Dickson; sisters, Pat Lyda of Salem, SC, Bea Harrison (Bob) of Van Cleave, MS; brothers, Johnny Dickson (Teona) of Macon, GA, Ervin Dickson of Lucedale, MS and James Dickson (Beverly) of Mobil, Alabama.

In addition to his parents, Larry is predeceased by his brother, Sonny Dickson.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Return Baptist Church.

The family is at the residence.  Flowers are accepted or memorials in Larry’s memory may be made in C/O Sandifer Funeral Home, PO Box 69, Westminster, SC 29693.  Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com.
