At the ESPYs Awards Thursday night, South Carolina Women’s Basketball Head Coach Dawn Staley received the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, former Gamecock A‘ja Wilson won two awards and this year’s 38-0 national champion Gamecocks won the ESPY for Best Team. Coach Staley won the award in honor of another national champion, the late NC State Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jim Valvano who died from cancer, for her work in advocating for cancer research and bone marrow donors.
