Jumble of good and bad COVID news for South Carolina

When it comes to new and probable cases of COVID-19 in South Carolina, today’s are a record setter.  State health officials are lamenting over a record high new and probable cases statewide of 3,778 and 29 deaths, including an elderly Oconeean who died December 15.  Of new confirmed cases, 76 are Oconee County residents.  Total SC test results received:  14,060; and the positivity was 25.9%.  If there was good news today it was, as the DHEC officials reported, that more than 7,000 front line medical workers have received their first of two vaccine doses and the state health agency is unaware of any serious reactions.  On Sunday’s ‘Community Sound Off’ there will be more from today’s DHEC news, including an explanation why state prisoners are likely to be given a priority to be vaccinated.
