JOHN-WILLIAM STROTHER EVANS

Walhalla, SC– John-William Strother Evans, 39, of Walhalla, passed away on Wednesday,

December 7, 2022.

 

A native of Oconee County, Mr. Evans was the son of William S. Evans and Jonnie Faye Baumgarner Black. He worked in Industrial Construction as an instrument fitter.

 

John was a Christian man who loved with his whole heart. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and loved the mountains. John found true love with his fiancée, Katrisha Henry, and considered himself to be very blessed. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and was the protector of the family and always there for the underdog. John was loved fiercely and will be missed by many.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Evans is survived by his brother: Micah Evans (Jessica Griffin); sister: Faith Carter; fiancée: Katrisha Henry; nieces and nephews: Tucker Griffin, Allie Griffin, Harmony Carter, Jorge Casanovas; grandmother: Hazel Neal Evans; aunts and uncles: Nelda Baumgarner, Elaine Baumgarner Holland, Sandra Meece, Diane Bird, Connie Ross, Mary Evans, Bonnie Evans, Jan Logan, Dean Baumgarner, and John E. Baumgarner (Buck).

 

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by grandparents: William A. Evans (Jim), John W. Baumgarner, and  Faye Hicks Baumgarner; and cousins: Diana LeCroy, and Haley Baumgarner.

 

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Friday, December 30, 2022, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John-William Strother Evans Memorial Fund, which provides services from Davenport Funeral Home and can be mailed to PO Box 462, Walhalla, SC 29691.

 

The family is at their respective homes.
