JO ANN PETERS

Seneca, SC — In Loving Memory of Jo Ann Peters (Nov. 16, 1933-Aug. 28, 2023) The fourth child of B.F. and Bernice Williams, Jo Ann was born in Trenton, Florida. She grew up in Monticello, Florida with three brothers—Charles, Frank, and Johnny—and three sisters—Gwen, Ina Rae, and Jean. All preceded Jo Ann in death.

 

Upon graduating high school, Jo Ann relocated to Washington, DC as an employee for J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI. Her many clerical responsibilities included conventional fingerprinting. Eventually, she relocated to the Atlanta division. There, she met and married C.D. “Pete” Peters, father of her children Piper Aheron (Richard) and Eric L. Peters (Rachel). She’s the grandmother of Erica Peters Covington (Zack) and Dakota C. Peters. At this writing, she has four great-grandchildren.

 

Jo Ann successfully completed her Masters from Clemson University, then she taught in the Oconee County, SC public school system until retirement. By 2001, Jo Ann volunteered and served as a missionary for the International Mission Board. She did a multitude of jobs within several countries including Russia, Poland, China, and Thailand.

 

As a follower of Jesus Christ, she taught the Bible and Sunday School in many churches including Utica Baptist, Seneca, SC, and Northside Baptist, Rock Hill, SC.

 

An intimate gathering of family and friends is tentatively scheduled for November in Florida with time and place to be announced later. Presently, memorials may be made to the International Mission Board in lieu of flowers. Memorials or donations should be sent to the International Mission Board at https://www.imb.org or by contacting your local Baptist church.
