Is there any place quite like Fair Play, SC?

One of the unusual considerations that master planners for Fair Play is how an interstate highway running right thru it impacts or should impact the un-incorporated community in both Oconee and Anderson counties.  A professional planner from West Pelzer, Blake Sanders, is learning a lot about Fair Play, a quiet and farm area.  But it’s a community that, with the promise of piped sewer, wants to branch out and enjoy some of the commercial development enjoyed by nearby Seneca, Westminster, Anderson, and Lavonia.  Sanders likens Fair Play to Hardeeville, which was a small low state town along Interstate-95.  Sanders learned from Hardeeville’s mayor examples of what that town did right and wrong when it grew commercially and population-wise, yet sought to preserve the charm of its downtown.
