Improvements Corp. takes action

The Seneca Improvements Corporation approved reimbursement money up to $13 thousand yesterday for improvement work at One Community Church on N. 1st Street and for improvements at the former Green’s Drapery N. Walnut building for up to $75,000 to turn that building into an event center with apartments upstairs. Mayor Dan Alexander, on 94.1 The Lake, talked about the importance of the program for economic development in his city. “It is economic development. It is investing in a private company or individual to help them in their development,” says Mayor Alexander. “When I look at it, I look at why would we not want to help invest and bring people, you know, get someone in a building, they are paying more taxes on the property, they are buying our utilities from us, electric, water, sewer, so it allows us to work with them.”
