Home meal delivery to seniors

The rush for items in a grocery store can be a frightening prospect for the elderly. A partnership, working on behalf of senior citizens, offers a free alternative to those 60 and older. It’s the home meal delivery program in Oconee County by Senior Solutions. Although many shelves in grocery stores are empty or thin, Senior Solutions has no shortage of food, according to Doug Wright, the executive director. “We have plenty of meals, and we are fully staffed. The volume has gone up considerably because there’s a whole lot more seniors citizens who want them,” he says. The number of home deliveries has increased with the decision announced last week that Senior Solutions and its aging organization partners that all seniors, no matter if they are registered for Meals on Wheels, can take advantage.
