Head-on crash Saturday afternoon

Five persons were reported hurt in a head-on 123 accident Saturday afternoon in rural Oconee County, about midway between Westminster and the Georgia line.  One of the injured required extrication and a medical helicopter flight to an out of county hospital.  The accident was logged by the state patrol at 2:37 at 123/the Toccoa Highway at Turpin Drive.  Trooper Brandon Bolt said four of the injured were in a Volkswagen Jetta; the fifth was the driver of a Ford Edge SUV.  A temporary detour diverted 123 traffic traveling the section of the two-lane highway where the accident occurred.
