German History and Food Festival tomorrow

The Second Annual German History and Food Festival takes place tomorrow along Walhalla’s Short Street.  The immediate area there is home to a number of museums that’ll offer tours and programs.  One of those tours will be conducted by the historic St. John’s Lutheran Church which will show off its old cemetery, the resting place of many of city’s pioneer citizens from back in the 19th century.  Libby Imbody, Main Street director, says the festival will offer children fun games, including inflatables.  A major component of the day tomorrow will be food, and there’ll be a variety of German-related foods such as hot pretzels, brats, cheese, and potato salad. There’s also an answer to the pole structures that are in the ground on the city-owned corner property at Main and S. College streets.  Imbody says those poles are going to support a first for Walhalla—sail shades for downtown visitors seeking shade from the sun, as well as the new home for the city’s farmers market.
