Fire chief becomes city administrator

Brandon Burton has moved up the ladder in Walhalla government.  The fire chief was approved last night by the city council to be the new city administrator, in place of Brent Taylor who resigned.  Burton had served as interim administrator.  He’ll work under a three-year contract that will pay him $70 thousand a year and provide him a city car.  Contract provisions call for a 5% pay increase after the first year and a 3% increase after years two and three.  Other provisions are six months of severance pay, provided he’s terminated within four months of an election.  Until Walhalla appoints a new fire chief, Burton will serve as an interim in that role.
