Voters Rock Community & Family Fun Day

The Voter Registration Committee of the OCDP is sponsoring a civic event called Voters Rock Community and Family Fun Day on August 27 from 11:00 to 3:00 at Norton Thompson Park in Seneca. Our goals are
#1 To bring our community together and focus on how we care for each other.
#2 Provide entertainment, food, games, and fun activities for children and families.

Activities: Bouncy house, a misting tent, Tumbling Towers, Giant Connect 4, games
such as balloon toss, relay races, face painting, and others.
Music: Modern Mammals, Evan Dehner, DJ Nyla V, and more.
Food: Free hotdogs, Chicken nuggets, and fries for those who check by the Vote Registration Tables and get a ticket. Also, there will be various food vendors such as lemonade and shaved ice, sweets, and other treats.

Arts and craft vendors along with the Fire Department will be there with their fire truck teaching fire safety tips. The Police Department will also be there to teach other safety issues and do children’s fingerprinting.

Tables are set up with information about local Non-Profits such as Baby Read and Tamassee DAR.

#3 Educational opportunities: Finally, why it’s called Voters Rock!

I think all of our citizens were surprised at the low voter turnout in the last election. Our goal as chairs of the Voter Registration Committee is to find ways to get people registered to vote and then out to vote. We will have 6-8 tables set up to help people check their voter status or get registered to vote. And just so everyone knows this is not a political event but a civic-oriented community day, there will be no campaigning or expression of political issues.
