Duke Foundation benefits local non-profits

Seneca’s Blue Ridge Community Center and the Clemson Area African American Museum are among South Carolina non-profits to benefit from employee-directed grants committed for social justice and racial equity.  Each will get $5 thousand from yesterday’s Duke Energy Foundation announcement that there’s as much as $200 thousand for non-profits statewide.  Overall, the $200 thousand is part of a $1 million companywide commitment.  In a first for the company, Duke and Piedmont Natural Gas tapped its Advocates for African Americans, along with other diversity and inclusion councils, to help identify and determine which organizations should be considered to receive support. The goal of the Blue Ridge Community Center in Seneca’s Perry Hill community is to be a catalyst for education, sports, and activities for community residents.  Clemson’s African-American Museum is a collection and education resource of historical achievements and culture of African Americans.
