Dorothy Barnett

Salem – Dorothy Nix Barrett, 90, wife of the late MSGT. William Elvus Barrett, passed away on Thursday, July 11^th, 2024 at Clemson Downs.

 

Born February 1^st, 1934 in Walhalla, South Carolina, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Simeon Addison and Ola Mae Towe Nix. Dorothy was a dental assistant before working as a postal carrier in Walhalla for 20 years. She served as a DAR house mother and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, puzzles and playing Scrabble.

 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Doug Barrett of Pickens, South Carolina, Susan Barrett Orr of Pennsylvania, Eric Barrett (Jody) of Washington, Keith Barrett (Maritza) of Costa Rica; sister, Ann Moore of Walhalla; grandchildren, Brian Barrett, Ashley Roach, Dorothy Barrett, Emily Paul, Julia Kokemor, Bradley Barrett, Megan Barrett; great grandchildren, Molly Roach, Mason Roach, Bear Greer, Kody Paul, Levi Paul, Henry Paul, Natalia Paul, Violet Kokemor, Thomas Kokemor, Waylon Jase Hendrix; and beloved dog, Elijah,

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Charles Edwin “Charlie” Barrett, a grandson, Will Cox; and sister, Evelyn Miller; brothers, Bill Nix, Don Nix, and Ron Nix.  

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Friday, July 19^th, 2024 at the Martin House, next door to Sandifer Funeral Home.
