District administrator to retire

The 10-year assistant superintendent of human resources for the Oconee public schools, Earnestine Williams, has decided to retire at the end of the school year. Williams’ career in education started in 1986 as an elementary school teacher in Pendleton. There was a side to her that many people didn’t know. According to Dr. Michael Thorsland, district superintendent, “Mrs. Williams is always cheerful and friendly with people in public, but I’ve seen her be as tough as nails when hard conversations need to be had.”
