Death charge postponed for trial in March

A court officer says, by an order of a continuance, the state’s death charge against a Seneca man has been postponed from next week until a General Sessions court term in March.  101.7/WGOG NEWS learned that the solicitor’s office earlier this week had been making preparations to call the case of Mack Adam Gaines for next week’s, four-day term of court at the Oconee Courthouse.  Gaines was arrested by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office in 2018 and charged with abuse or neglect of adult resulting in death.  On January 17, 2018, Alma Louise Gaines of what the coroner’s office called “medical complications secondary to her fall and neglect by a family member in providing her assistance.”  Alma Louise Gaines was 92 years old.
