Day-long crime spree ends with three in custody

A day-long crime spree Tuesday in Oconee County ended with the apprehension of a 19-year old man and two under age teenagers—a 14-year old girl and a 15-year old boy. The Sheriff’s Office reports the adult male, Oconee resident Samuel Scott Gray, faces five charges, including the offense of attempted armed robbery. The Sheriff’s Office classifies what happened as a crime spree that started with a missing car belonging to a relative of one of the three suspects. An attempted armed robbery of an individual is alleged to have occurred outside a Bountyland convenience store. The car was driven into a ravine near Westminster. Eventually, the three were taken into custody after an accident near the Armstrong Road and 123. An officer was injured and underwent hospital treatment.
