COVID cases reported in neighboring Georgia county

In Franklin County, Georgia, the sheriff is in the hospital and the tax office is closed.  The culprit in this is COVID-19.  WLHR Radio quotes the daughter of Steve Thomas, the Franklin County sheriff, as saying her father is in the hospital with COVID.  On a Facebook post, Desiree Thomas McAdams says IV medicine has been administered, which is a five-day process.  Mr. Thomas is getting oxygen, and his daughter requests prayer for his healing as well as prayers for everyone else affected by the virus.  Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw told 101.7/WGOG NEWS today that six of his deputies contracted COVID a couple of weeks ago.  Crenshaw says all have recovered and are back at work.  Besides the Franklin County sheriff, the virus has stopped the work of the Franklin County Tax Commission Office.  WLHR quotes Commissioner Bobby Martin as saying the office is closed for at least ten days.  Property tax payments are due there November 15, but that deadline may have to be extended.
