County fathers requested to dole out the money

At its meeting next week, the Oconee County Council will be asked to help the unfortunate by doling out money.  The county’s only homeless shelter, Our Daily Rest in Seneca, seeks a $20 thousand dollar allocation so that it can continue its work to offer a hand up and a second chance to homeless individuals.  It’s estimated that in 10 years, Our Daily Rest has served two thousand homeless persons.  The Upstate South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross will have its hand out during Tuesday night’s meeting so that it can continue to help county residents overcome social and economic hardships–such as the devastation brought by home fires.  In the government year 2019, Oconee’s 23 Red Cross volunteers responded to 47 disaster scenes–mostly home fires.  Also, Tuesday night, Jerry Edwards, editor and publisher of the Journal, will request funds for Christmas for Kids.
