Clemson resident wins seat on state regulatory board

At the top, there’s a change in the membership of South Carolina public service commissioners.  Randy Randall, the Clinton resident who chaired the PSC, pulled out of a re-election bid at the state legislature and the Third District seat he held now goes to a Clemson resident, Mike Caston.  In all, there were three candidates deemed qualified candidates by a review committee, but it’s not unusual for candidates to pull out in the hours before the votes when they sense they don’t have enough votes among lawmakers to win.  According to State Senator Thomas Alexander, Randall served with distinction, but lawmakers are impressed by Caston’s background in water and sewer utilities.  The state pays commissioners about $130 thousand a year.
