Church mission work this spring

The Salem United Methodist Church will host a mission this spring of Salkahatchie. During the week May 16-23, a group of 43 college age young men and women will repair four homes in Oconee and Pickens. The homes will be picked sometime this month. Community churches are encouraged to learn more about the mission to assist to help neighbors live in warm, dry homes. The camp is called Camp Attakulla after the Attakulla lodge which lies at the bottom of Lake Jocassee. Attakulla means “little carpenter.” Campers will need lunch daily at a nearby church and the evening meal to be served at the campsite. The Salem UMC plans to provide an early morning breakfast and devotions each morning. For more information or if you want to help provide a meal or money for supplies, please call Pastor Stephen Turner 864-421-3986.
