Once again, the Jacobs Road railroad crossing near Clemson will be closed to vehicle traffic for continued maintenance by Norfolk Southern. Fire this morning destroyed a tractor-trailer truck in the Friendship Community near Seneca. Marijuana seized in traffic stop

A late night traffic stop by the police in Westminster yielded a little more than four pounds of marijuana. And Chief Dean Awalt said the driver will face charges of open container and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Awalt says the traffic stop took place downtown, at the East Main approach to Windsor Street.

Disabled adult abuse reported

Authorities in Rabun County, Georgia are investigating an allegation of disabled person abuse. EMS, the Mountain City police, and Rabun County sheriff’s officers last Wednesday investigated the assault of a Clayton adult female. The Oconee School District’s finance officer says to fund the administration’s recommended budget for next year will require deficit spending. During a non-voting meeting last night, Gloria Moore provided figures to county trustees.
