A jury has been selected for the State’s trial against a 37-year old woman in the Oconee General Sessions Court. According to the docket announcement by the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Melissa Ramey is charged with burglary first degree and grand larceny. Trial begins at 9 this morning.  

Oconee Probate Judge Kenny Johns committed a murder defendant to the state Department of Mental Health for treatment for an indefinite period. Two people are described as having non-life threatening injuries in this morning’s head-on collision at Keowee Key. The accident was reported at 8 o’clock at an ‘S’ curve on 130 near a golf course entrances. The injured were sent to the hospital for treatment.

Two vehicles T-boned as the result of late Friday afternoon traffic accident at a Seneca intersection. Lt. Five seventh graders at Walhalla Middle School are state level winners in the Duke University Talent Identification Program. Because of outstanding scores in the A-C-T or the S-A-T, the following Walhalla Middle students qualify for a state level recognition ceremony: Jonathan Beatriz, Noah McDuff, McCullough Tarner, Chelse VanAtter, and Kelsie Badura.    

At its meeting tonight, Seneca Planning Commission considers three rezoning applications. The applications involve property of Serenity Place at Northside Circle, Golden Corner Food Pantry on the Wells Highway, and Rekha Enterprises at Wells and S. 4th Street.
