Sheriff becomes a Rotarian

Oconee’s first-term sheriff, Mike Crenshaw, is the newest member of the Walhalla Rotary Club. It’s a club that counts Senator Lindsey Graham as one of its members, and you can join, also. Those interested in visiting or becoming a member of the Walhalla Rotary Club, meetings are held Mondays at the Depot, starting at noon and ending at 1 o’clock.

Autopsies today

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley says autopsies are planned today on the bodies of the two children allegedly killed by their mother yesterday in Dacusville. Killed were 7-year old Carly Ashelyn Simpson and her five-year-old brother, Sawyer Russell Simpson. The boys’ wounded father, Michael John Simpson, is in the hospital. Walhalla FFA finishing successful year

Walhalla’s FFA chapter is completing the year, having received a National Chapter Gold Emblem Award. Walhalla has captured this award three of the last four years and will receive this year’s award at this summer’s FFA convention at Clemson University. Josh McCall, agricultural education teacher at Walhalla High, serves as FFA advisor.

A small car pursued by state troopers in Georgia went down an I-85 embankment and hit a tree. Yesterday’s accident left one person dead and two others injured. Family members wounded and killed

A 35-year old woman accused of killing her two young children and wounding her husband in Pickens County is in the hospital under guard. Warrants charge Suzanna Simpson with the murders of seven-year-old Carly Ashelyn Simpson and five-year old Sawyer Russell Simpson. The father, Michael John Simpson, was shot and is a patient in the Greenville Memorial Hospital.
