Police hand out book bags and school supplies

Beginning today, look for Walhalla police at the city’s apartment complexes and in other neighborhoods—giving out backpacks and other school supplies. The school year begins Monday in Oconee County. Chief Ronald Wilbanks says the school stuff is courtesy of  police department fundraisers and the help of donors, such as Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
