New leadership is in place on the board of directors at Oconee Memorial Hospital. During a meeting Friday, the board elected Gene Blair as vice chairman. Blair succeeds Cecil Turner, who has taken over the chairman’s seat. The position of chairman opened when Rick Phillips became a member of the parent board of directors of the Greenville Health System.

In the investigation of a burglary at a Seneca restaurant, the police Friday arrested an employee and charged him with burglary second degree and grand larceny. A new, eight-inch water line has been installed in downtown Walhalla, as part of Streetscape. Once the testing of that new line is complete, service is to be connected to customers on the south side of Main Street between Tugaloo and College streets.
