New drug sweep is Operation Infinity #12

A new sweep through out Oconee aimed at those violating drug laws is underway.  “Operation Infinity” #12 started yesterday morning as the Sheriff’s Office teamed with the police departments from Seneca, Walhalla, Westminster, and West Union.  In all, 19 people are being sought.  By 3:30 yesterday afternoon, six had been arrested.  The charges involve methamphetamine, prescription drugs, and crack cocaine.  […]

Fire scene death appears to have been from gun shot

The Oconee coroner says the preliminary investigation at a Long Creek fire scene indicates a 66-year old man died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.  Coroner Karl Addis’s announcement does not identify the deceased by name.  The man was found in a bedroom at 199 Grace Lane.  An autopsy is scheduled today.  Meantime, Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says the investigation of […]

Critical updates to software will require the closing of the main branch of the Oconee Public Library in Walhalla for one day—Sunday, December 20.  According to the library’s announcement, “…there may be times during that weekend (December 19 and 20) where users won’t be able to access their accounts online.  We apologize for any inconvenience.”
