Spartanburg eyes Michelin

Spartanburg County is considering financial incentives to land a Michelin tire distribution center.  The distribution center is believed to be the one that Oconee County had pursued for more than a year to locate its Golden Corner Commerce Park.  According to the county’s website, Spartanburg County Council is to consider the project during a meeting tonight.

Mountain to Main tri-athlon this weekend

Ken Sloan says an athletic event, never tried in Oconee County, will take place this weekend.  According to the head of the Mountain Lakes CVB, it’s an event requiring great stamina.  On Sunday, from South Cove Park, participants will swim a distance of two and a half miles.  Then they’ll ride bikes to the Greenville County town of Travelers Rest.

A flier found in one Walhalla restaurant starts out:  “Freedom of choice is here and the time to choose is now.  The Next School @ Eagle Ridge, a free state accredited public school located in Salem, is currently enrolling students in grades 6-12.”  The flier gives information on how to register.

Finalists for Westminster city job

After a called meeting yesterday, Westminster named two finalists for city administrator.  They are Rodney Johnson of Florence and Christopher Carter of Georgetown.  Mayor Brian Ramey says Carter and Johnson will get face-to-face interviews to determine who succeeds Jeff Lord, who is resigning to take a job elsewhere.
