Fire started in the back of a home near Westminster.  Rural Fire Control reports that fire fighters were sent to Robert Drive near the Toccoa Highway shortly before 11:30 last night and stayed until 1:30 this morning.  No one was injured.

  Walhalla has new trees and shrubbery along Main Street downtown.  It now has a gardener/horticulturist to care for them.  At its meeting last night, the group Partners for Progress met Howard Wiley and talked about plans to landscape the two remaining medians on Main.  

Proponents of Walhalla Streetscape hope the work done to Main Street downtown will bring additional visitors to their city.  On Friday the county’s Destination Oconee Action Committee will take a walking tour of the downtown and hear from Mayor Danny Edwards.

A tree fell onto electric power lines last night and service was lost to Duke Energy Lake Keowee residents near Seneca.  A Duke spokesman said the tree fell at the entrance to Pinnacle Point and it was necessary for crews to take down a circuit to make repairs.  It’s believed as many as 3,000 customers saw their power interrupted.  At […]
