July is remembered for its average high temperature of 95.6 degrees in Walhalla.  Barbara Wilson, the U-S Weather Observer, recorded just shy of 3″ of rain the entire month.  The final day of July 2016 finished this week:  the Walhalla high was 97, the low 69, and 0.03″ rain.

A power line fell around 3 this morning on Walhalla’s W. Walnut Street.  The fire department responded and awaited the arrival of a repair crew from Duke Energy.

A 70-year old Liberty man has died after a golf cart accident at the Pickens County Golf Course.  Coroner Kandy Kelley says Carl Edward Williams died Saturday morning at a hospital after the golf cart he was operating collided on a cart pass with a motor vehicle on Griffin Road.
