No change in Oconee jobless rate (5.5%)

In the last full month of summer, no change was detected in Oconee County’s unemployment rate.  The 5.5% August jobless rate reported by the state represented no change from July.  In percentage comparisons, fewer Oconeeans are in the unemployment line than Pickens (5.6%,) but more than Anderson (5.2%.)  Both the state and the country, however, recorded lower jobless percentages.  The […]

Columbia man arrested in 2013 Wal-Mart shoplifting

A Columbia man remained in the Oconee jail over the weekend, having been charged in a case of shoplifting at the Wal-Mart three years ago.  The Oconee Sheriff’s Office located Ontorio Cortez Waymyers (right) in a Myrtle Beach jail.
