Walhalla Fire Department responded to a heater motor fire last night that smoked up a home on Letson Circle.  During the weekend of winter’s first storm, Walhalla fire fighters handled eight calls—mostly downed trees and power lines.

Appointment at the Ten at the Top

Tiffany Tate is now the assistant director of Ten at the Top—the group of 10 Upstate counties, which include Oconee.  Tate moves into her new appointment from the role of program manager.  She is a graduate of Liberty High School and Clemson University.  Ten at the Top’s vision is a stronger region—thru collaboration, coordination, and cooperation.

Blue Ridge crews respond to outages

By 5 o’clock last evening, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative counted seven customers without service.  But those seven were scheduled to be reconnected by sundown yesterday.  Those seven included two customers in Greenville County and five in Anderson. Two-hour delay for Oconee public schools

For Oconee public school students, this is a morning to sleep later.  The school district has announced a two-hour delay this morning for the start of classes. Unless road conditions are hazardous, all employees should report at the usual time.  If parents need to get to work as usual, students may be dropped off at normal time.

By 7 o’clock this morning, two and a half inches of snow had fallen at Walhalla’s Hickory Hollow Farm—the home of Barbara Wilson, the Official U-S Weather Observer.  Of the amount, Wilson recorded a little more than one-half inch of melted precipitation.  It’s likely her official report for the storm will indicate in excess of 2.5”—as snow continued to fall […]
