Motorcyclist killed in his driveway

A 49-year old Pickens County man died in a motorcycle accident in his driveway.  Coroner Kandy Kelley said the victim, Gary Joseph Carlson, was a helmeted driver of a Harley Davidson in the accident Saturday night at 125 Lighthouse Lane, Pickens.  The accident is being investigated by the highway patrol.

Individual state tax returns may be filed starting January 23

The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) will begin accepting Individual Income tax returns on Monday, January 23. Income tax returns are due Tuesday, April 18. Midnight hour home fire

A home fire was reported during the midnight hour in a rural section of Oconee County near Westminster.  No one reported hurt.  The fire is said to have occurred at a home in the vicinity of Oliver and Mount Tabor roads.  Fire fighters spent nearly five hours at that scene.
