House Fire in Westminster

Fire destroyed a home on Dewey Street in Westminster Wednesday night. According to Westminster Fire Department Captain, Travis Collins, the single-family dwelling was fully engulfed when firemen arrived at the scene. Collins said that no one was home at the time of the fire, and the incident is under investigation.

A new director of teacher quality

Oconee public schools are getting a new director of teacher quality. Starting July 1, the job will go to 16-year teacher and administrator Susie Wearing. Her hiring was approved today during a special meeting of the county trustees. Wearing succeeds Dr. Mike Lucas who came out of retirement to serve in the position for two years.
