Both sides to be watching as Seneca approaches vote

Balancing property rights yet ensuring peace and quiet in a neighborhood are expected to be in play next week when the Seneca City Council approaches a vote on short-term rental regulations. On the side of private property rights is the organization of Western Upstate Realtors, and Tuesday night’s City Hall meeting is likely to attract realtor members. But the city’s elected leaders are being urged to hold their ground. They are being told in an email from one short-term rental rules supporter: “This is crazy. Who in his right mind would think that my property value would be enhanced by having party houses on both sides, garbage cans in the street, and cars and boats zooming through residential neighborhoods and narrow coves?”
