Blue Ridge progress report

As of 6:25 this Thursday morning, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative had 2,641 members remaining without electric service as a result of Monday’s tornado-induced storm emergency. The by-county breakdown:

• Anderson 437

• Oconee 2,204

Shortly after dark last evening, repairs were completed on the damaged portion of a transmission line located near the City of Seneca. Cooperative crews then began implementing a gradual re-energizing of the main three-phase circuits feeding from the seven distribution substations serviced by the transmission line. Within a little more than an hour, power was then restored for 9,357 members.

Storm damage to some sections of the Blue Ridge distribution power lines have left those 2,641 members without service. Operations crews this morning will soon begin addressing those remaining trouble spots. It is expected that steady progress will be made today toward bringing this storm emergency to a close.
