Blue Ridge makes Oakway progress

The wrath of the tornado extended beyond Seneca to include Oconee County communities of Oakway, Earles Grove, and Fair Play. Besides direct damage to homes, the tornado knocked out electric service. Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative achieved success in the Oakway area last night by restoring electric power, and one of its customers there is very grateful to the repair crews that worked tirelessly. Sharon Spearman says part of the satisfaction of being restored with electric power service is that she’s now able to again hear Gary Butts of 101.7/WGOG. Gary’s voice is soothing to the ears of this long time listener. Being able to speak in a clear, calm manner over the airwaves has been a strength of radio ever since the business took to the airwaves in the early 20th century.
