Big ticket items in front of Oconee leaders

The costs of properly disposing of the trash created by Oconee County residents face the county’s leaders during their meeting next week in Walhalla.  Two big ticket items are on the agenda for the first September county council meeting.  The council members are scheduled to consider staff recommendations that they award a $107 thousand contract to Smith Gardner of Raleigh, North Carolina for engineering services for a re-mediation project at the closed Five Forks Landfill near Walhalla and two re-mediation projects for the closed Class 3 Seneca Landfill.  A company from San Clemente, California stands in line for a contract to implement PlumeStop for a 250 foot pilot study as part of the corrective action monitoring plan for required re-mediation at the Seneca Landfill.   It’s proposed that Oconee award a contract of $269,500 to Regenesis BioRemediation Products.
