BEVERLY ZOENELL MCINTYRE JOHNSON

West Union, SC — Beverly Zoenell McIntyre Johnson, 85, wife of the late Charles R. Johnson (Chuck) passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Cottingham House of Seneca, SC surrounded by her loving daughters.

 

Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Emit Troy McIntyre and Lillian Josephine Grant.  She was the last surviving member of her family.  After she retired from Schlumberger Industries, she and Chuck traveled and camped all over the United States. She was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church, where she served faithfully wherever she was needed. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and an avid reader.  She loved crossword puzzles (completing them in ink), and loved growing and being surrounded by beautiful flowers. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Lynn Hodge (Ronnie) of West Union, SC, Karen Towe (Gerald) of West Union, SC, Lisa Peden (Robby) of Walhalla, SC; her sons, Jimmy Stewart of Salem, SC, Keith Stewart of Anderson, SC, Mike Johnson (Cheryl) of Rock City, IL, Scott Johnson (Angela) of Atlanta, GA, Derrick Johnson (Pamela) of Dade City, FL; 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and is expecting a great-granddaughter in November; as well as extended family Leeann, Hunter and Hendrix Smith.

 

In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Talley, Mary Palmer, Mattie Ruth (Marg) Talley, and her brother, Alton “Tarheel” McIntyre.

 

A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, prior to the 3:00 pm service at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Foothills Assisted Living in West Union, SC for loving our mother as though she was their own. The family would also like to thank the staff at The Cottingham House for their compassion and loving support.
