A pair of late night fire calls, both of them practically simultaneously, were typical last night of what a homeowner may encounter in winter time.  A furnace fire occurred on Walhalla’s West Ervin Street and a chimney fire on Ramey Road near Salem.  In each instance, according to Oconee Rural Fire, the fires were stopped before major damage could occur.

President Trump has yet to concede the results of the November election.  Nor has his strong ally in South Carolina’s 3rd congressional district, U-S Rep. Jeff Duncan.  This afternoon the Laurens Republican announced that on Wednesday next week, he will formally object in the House to the Electoral College certification of the votes that give Democrat Joe Biden the victory.
