South Carolina Public Radio reported the withdrawal of Jocelyn Newman, a candidate for the state Supreme Court.  Her withdrawal leaves two candidates Blake Hewitt of Conway and Letitia Verdin of Greenville County, a former Seneca resident.  The state’s lawmakers are scheduled to elect a new high court judge on Wednesday next week.

Walhalla announces that by 8 o’clock last night crews were able to restore water service to those impacted by the line break on the Lake Jemiki Road.  “We thank our affected customers for the patience,” the city said.

To happen this morning:  around 10 o’clock crews intend to unearth unused fuel tanks from the grounds at the former Fair Play public school.  This, to help allow the Fair-Oak Youth Center to develop the property for community recreation — such as a parking lot for the baseball field and create space for support facilities.

The dog kennels at the Oconee Animal Shelter are full, but what is needed are people willing to adopt a pet.  One available pet is a 10-month-old lab-mx named Venus who, according to the Humane Society, has perhaps “the most fabulous ears in Oconee County.”
