The date to light it up

Oconee County is targeting a date to “light up” FOCUS–the project to bring high-speed broadband service countywide. Paul Corbeil, District One county councilman, says the projected date is four months away–Friday, March 15, 2013. The county’s public schools are already beginning to switch to the service, according to Dr. Mike Lucas, county superintendent.

State troopers report one person killed this morning in what apparently was a four-vehicle accident on S.C. 11 at Bruce Road. At least two people were reportedly severely hurt, requiring one of them to be flown by helicopter to the Greenville Memorial Hospital. The booking report overnight from Oconee Detention Center is full of the names and the charges of those who, so far, have been swept up in what the Seneca police call one of the largest illegal drug enforcement efforts in their city.
