Vehicles flip on I-85

The affected stretch of I-85 in Oconee County is back to normal after yesterday afternoon’s traffic crash. Multiple vehicles were involved northbound near the S.C. 11 exit. As many as five people required transport to three hospitals. One of the northbound lanes was blocked for about 30 minutes, while the other lane remained closed for about one hour.

Escaped prisoner captured

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Department has announced that one of two escaped prisoners is back in custody today. Detention Center inmate Jonathan Dean Moody was apprehend around noon today in a wooded area, just north of U-S 178, less than one mile from the detention center. A second inmate, Rickylee Smith, remained at large.
