A third-year teacher at Seneca’s Code Academy has been recognized as an “Outstanding Earth Science Teacher.” The National Association of Geoscience Teachers honored Crystal Talley with a two-year complimentary membership. Airman completes basic training

A young airman from Oconee has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Jeremy Putnam finished an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Putnam, a 2011 graduate of Walhalla High, is the son of Joel Putnam of Seneca.

Northeast Georgia authorities are hoping dental records and a vehicle identification number will help them identify the driver of an 18-wheeler killed in Friday’s fiery crash on I-85.
