Changing of the guard

A 37-year member of the Oconee Sewer Commission and its modern-day successor, the Joint Regional Sewer Authority, has stepped to the sidelines. JRSA commissioners last night expressed regret at the resignation of Howard Adams, who served as chairman for decades. Adams is succeeded by a fellow Westminster resident, city councilman Jimmy Powell. Powell attended his first meeting last night.

Walhallan arrested in Georgia

A suspect in a Walhalla apartment home burglary has been arrested in Georgia on unrelated charges. Lt. Paul Harris of the Walhalla Police Department confirmed this afternoon that his department holds an outstanding warrant charging Aaron Scott Gunn, 21, of Bagwell Lane, Walhalla with burglary October 7 at Stand Pointe Vista Apartments. A third-year teacher at Seneca’s Code Academy has been recognized as an “Outstanding Earth Science Teacher.” The National Association of Geoscience Teachers honored Crystal Talley with a two-year complimentary membership. Airman completes basic training

A young airman from Oconee has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Jeremy Putnam finished an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Putnam, a 2011 graduate of Walhalla High, is the son of Joel Putnam of Seneca.
