Victim was 54-year old man

Oconee Coroner Karl Addis says the victim of the early morning car accident near Salem was Jerry Lee Rowland, 54, of Salem.  Rowland was found dead at the scene of the accident on the Mack Reid Road at the Haney Road.  Addis said he learned the accident was discovered by a Rowland relative.

Tree falls on power line

A tree fell onto an electric power line and then on top of a car last night in the Five Forks Community near Walhalla. Captain Mark Hollifield of the Walhalla Fire Department says no one was hurt on Panhead Lane near the Stribling Shoals Road, although the homeowner at the address lost electric power service for about one hour.
